Why the Arts Matter in Mental Health

In late 2021 I was asked by colleague’s at King’s College London to support the producing of an event focused on the arts, young people and mental health, taking place in February 2022. Working alongside colleagues from the culture team I took on a scoping role, looking at organisations nationally that were leading on fantastic creative projects that support the mental health of young people in a variety of ways.

As part of this event I was asked to open the event and set the scene for why the arts matter in mental health. Here is a clip of that opening speech where I highlight my journey as a young person and all those that supported me to discover my creativity, leading me to the work that I do today.
